Leon and Rebecca Staal were married in 2013. They live on Leon's family dairy farm that he manages in the Central Province of Zambia. Rebecca grew up in a small town in Northwest Indiana. Upon moving to Zambia, Rebecca always knew that she wanted to become involved in the lives of the Zambian children that live in the villages surrounding the farm.
Their family expanded with the birth of their little girl in 2014 and then a son in 2016. It was only in 2020 that Rebecca began searching for a way to reach out to the village kids on a daily, long-term basis. Hence, the idea for Sakamana was born.
Leon stays busy managing the dairy farm, is involved in the Dairy Association of Zambia, and is one of the leaders in our local church.
Rebecca stays busy homeschooling her children, doing office work for the farm, and overseeing Sakamana.
Our family loves Zambia! We love the friendly people and the laid-back, Christian culture as well as the amazing safaris and landscapes that this stunning country offers.
